Athletics holds hope for Homecoming sellout
October 13, 2004
NIU athletics is hoping to match the sellout of last year’s Homecoming game this Saturday against Central Michigan.
About 4,000 student tickets remain for the Homecoming game, which is traditionally less crowded than family weekend games, said Assistant Athletics Director Sheila Berg.
Although many tickets are left, Berg said the football team and athletics staff are still hoping for a sellout.
“We could still have a sellout,” Berg said. “Students are notorious for waiting until Thursday and Friday to pick up tickets.”
Tickets for the 3:05 p.m. game are available from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Convocation Center box office and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Holmes Student Center until Friday.
Tickets can also be purchased at the stadium starting at noon on game day.
Besides student tickets, there are still at about 2,000 tickets left for guests.
“We’re sitting at about 2,300 left to sell,” said Berg. Of these 2,300, about 657 are student guest or general public tickets for the east side of the stadium. The remaining tickets are for the west side.
She also said family weekend is traditionally a bigger game than Homecoming.
“Hopefully if the weather holds out, this will be a big game,” Berg said. “A lot of people will walk up and buy tickets if the weather is nice.”
One free ticket is available to each student who has a valid NIU OneCard. Four additional student guest tickets can be purchased for a reduced price of $10. All other guest tickets are $17.
