Central Park hosts Huskie lovin’

By Stephanie Szuda

Huskie fans can raise their school spirit at the the Huskie Love Spirit Day at 4 p.m. today in Central Park, located toward the west side of Douglas Hall, facing Stevenson Hall.

Lincoln and Douglas Halls are sponsering the event, said Nitin Goil, Douglas’ A/B Hall Director. In the previous years, Douglas and Lincoln used to sponsor an event during move-in week.

“We moved it just to have something to get all the students in the spirit for the football game,” Goil said.

There will be several activities going on during this two-hour event.

Students will be able to make banners to bring to the game, get their pictures taken with the NIU cheerleaders and mascot, and students can learn the NIU fight song.

Deli sandwiches, chips, soda and cookies will be available. Students will need to bring their NIU OneCard to purchase food. The dining halls in Douglas will be closed during this time.

Coordinators will be giving away free pompoms, and a disc jockey will supply music.
