Hastert dinner sold out

An expected 2,300 people will gather to listen to U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney at the Convocation Center Saturday.

Cheney will be speaking on behalf of Dennis Hastert, speaker of the House and 14th District of Illinois Representative, in an effort to raise funds for his campaign.

Invitations were sent to Hastert’s supporters, and tickets were available to the public for $150 per plate, but are now sold out.

The annual event is the largest event Hastert holds and was originally going to be held in St. Charles until the decision was made to move it to the Convocation Center last year.

“We moved to the Convocation Center at NIU last year because there is more room, and the staff was very accommodating,” said Brad Hahn, spokesman for Hastert.

Cheney is expected to arrive at the Convo Center at 4:30 p.m., and the dinner will begin at 6:30.
