DeKalb police are investigating more than a dozen reports of tire slashings during the weekend in the Greek Row area.

Witnesses told police the slashings occurred between late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

The majority of the incidents occurred in the 900 block of Greenbrier Road. Slashings were also reported on McCormick and Hillcrest drives.

DeKalb police could not confirm if there were any leads or suspects in the slashings.

A similar incident occurred in the spring when 11 slashings were reported on campus.

In April, three NIU football players pleaded guilty to a series of tire slashings near Grant Towers North.

Each one was sentenced to two years of court supervision, 100 hours of community service, a $500 fine and restitution.

Criminal damage to property is a Class A misdemeanor and punishable by up to one year in jail.
