Star columnists, Sweeps section lean to the left

I am concerned about the extreme bias that is constantly demonstrated in the Northern Star. It is journalists like the following that give America its horrible and skewed news coverage. In the Aug. 31 edition, Kevin Leahy wrote a disturbing column.

His article, “Bush in ‘04 means draft in ‘05,” has to be the biggest piece of garbage I’ve seen since I threw out my outdated milk carton this morning! I will not argue that American troops are thinly spread around the globe; but they are protecting American freedoms – including the Star’s freedom of press – and granting freedoms to others who have never know them. However, who is Mr. Leahy to say that a draft will occur in 2005 if George W. Bush wins? I hope his narrow-minded, hate-induced assessment can clearly comprehend that he is not a psychic. Leave the future to Miss Cleo.

As for his question as to why we even need a draft board, I suggest he contact the hero of the always-ignorant left, Bill Clinton. Ask him why he initiated the draft and why he put laws in place that punish losers who act cowardly by dodging it? I would rather live in an empire that protects freedoms than a republic that cowardly bows to foreign influence. Conscription and invasion were present in the Civil War, World War II and the Korean War, but would anyone argue today that these were wars fought for imperialism and empires? I would hope not. If there are, I would ask those people to pick up a history book. In the end, I know who will protect America, and it’s not Johnny Boy Kerry.

I am also concerned about the author who conducts the “Catch of the Day.” I have never seen such skewed filth since being forced to sit through any Michael Moore project. Questions such as “Kerry or Gore?” asked to the student body show the extreme biases that are consistently portrayed in the Star. This paper would be better if it included a more balanced assessment by adding at least one or two moderate to conservative reporters.

Lastly, I say thank you to anyone who reads this by taking time out of their busy, hate-filled schedules. I can only hope that I opened your eyes to the political right side of the argument. Please include a more fair and balanced reporting crew. I, as well as a huge portion of the faculty and student body, would appreciate it.
