Parking Services must accommodate students
August 22, 2004
I’m writing this letter after a trip to the library. This summer ended in anger and contempt for the parking situation on campus. I never actually made it into the library, you see. There is no longer student parking there. All of the parking spots that were previously meter spots are now reserved for faculty. I know it is more important for our professors to have access to the library, but there are still a few students who need it as well. As if the faculty do not have enough space in the parking garage and near the Art Building, they now have been given the student spots at the library. I have paid my outrageous fines, which keep going up every year. With the amount of revenue Campus Parking Services pulls in every year from student tickets, you would think the university would offer students more spaces to park. Campus Parking Services needs to take a step back and address student concerns with parking. After all, this campus belongs to students and alumni.
