Hearing for The Barn rescheduled

By Dan Patterson

The DeKalb Liquor Commission hearing on charges against The Barn has been rescheduled to 3 p.m. Aug. 3.

The commission had planned to weigh a complaint that The Barn had persisted in charging a $5 cover for people to enter.

The city also charged that The Barn had failed to post a sign at the entrance notifying patrons that no cover charge could be collected.

The restaurant/bar has been required to do so since May 19, when the commission found The Barn guilty of requesting a fee that created confusion among patrons.

The commission then also found The Barn guilty of allowing minors to enter the bar area.

In April, The Barn dropped its suit against the city that claimed that the city was unfairly altering the liquor codes to try to restrain its business.
