Survey says: DeKalb area businesses are looking to hire more this quarter

By Scott J. Smith

Area employers are expecting to hire at a lively pace in the third quarter.

According to the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey released today, 43 percent of companies in the DeKalb/Sycamore area interviewed intend to hire more employees from July to September. Only 3 percent are planning to reduce their workforce.

The survey also predicted a 13 percent hiring increase in Rockford and a 30 percent national increase.

The nationwide July to September forecast is one of the largest year-over-year increases in the Manpower survey’s history. The survey is conducted quarterly, and the latest study included 16,000 U.S. employers.
