NIU accountancy faculty and students have been holding a fundraiser for the past two weeks to benefit the Brian Deets Memorial Scholarship Fund, said Scott Michelau, president of NIU’s Beta Alpha Psi, a professional fraternity for financial information students and professionals.

Brian Deets was an a ccounting student who died in a car accident, Michelau said.

To finish the fundraiser, they will play a trivia game at 6:30 p.m. today at Hopkins Park, 1403 Sycamore Road.

The highlight of the event will be when one of the faculty members and one of the accounting student association presidents get hit in the face with a pie, Michelau said.

For the past two weeks, faculty and students have had jars located at the Barsema Hall atrium where students can place money, Michelau said.

The faculty member and student presidents with the most money in their jars will get hit in the face with a pie during the social. Currently, Natalie Churyk and Greg Carnes have the most money in the faculty race, Michelau said.

John Nitti and Sachin Desai are leading the student race. All money collected benefits the Brian Deets Memorial Scholarship Fund.
