Dreamin’ of the perfect man

Dave Haas of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Nicole Brooks of Sigma Kappa captured the titles of Delta Zeta Dream Man and Greek Goddess at Delta Zeta’s ninth annual philanthropy Wednesday at the Holmes Student Center’s Carl Sandburg Auditorium.

In his comedy routine, Haas touched on topics such as sex on the first date, pregnancy, condoms, drinking, classes and premature ejaculation.

“I wish that when you dump a girl, you could stamp her to tell the next guy what’s wrong with her so that the next guy wouldn’t have to start from scratch,” he said during his routine.

Brooks sang “On My Knees” for the talent portion and sported a black floral bikini in the swimsuit category of the competition.

All proceeds from the evening, including raffle sales during the program, will be donated to the only four-year university for the speech and hearing impaired, Gallaudet University.

Marisa Knudsen, a junior biology major and Delta Zeta member, said she was happy with the turnout and proud of the people who participated.

“They really put in a lot of effort,” Knudsen said.

The event has been in the making for the past six months by Delta Zeta members Missy Austin and Courtney Watson, who said it was good for all the Greek houses to get together for a charity cause.

Delta Zeta President Stacey Wachowski and Anthony “Booter” West, the 2003 Dream Man, hosted the evening, which consisted of three categories: formal wear, talent and swimwear.

Sean Pheanis of Tau Kappa Epsilon and Liza Bos of Sigma Sigma Sigma took second place in the competition. Pheanis rocked and rolled the audience with a song from “Stripes,” and Bos did a sexy dance in knee highs and stirrups to “All That Jazz.”

“It was fun,” said Nicole Crum, a senior elementary education major. “I wish that more Greeks would come out.”
