Singer to hit NIU for second campus performance

By Fernie Grace Tiflis

Singer Gregory Douglass will perform at 7 p.m. today at the Holmes Student Center’s Diversions Lounge as part of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Awareness Month programs.

Douglass performed last year and looks forward to his second appearance at NIU.

“Northern Illinois was a great stop last year, so we really wanted to return again this year on the tour,” Douglass said. “The folks seem really nice at the school.”

The purpose of this event mainly is for entertainment, not political drive, said Angelina Keselburg, events coordinator of PRISM.

“It’s great to have different performers to spread diversity in our own minority group,” Keselburg said. “It’s great that allies come and show support.”

Douglass will perform a combination of acoustic folk, rock and pop music.

He was chosen as the American entertainer at the first annual “Greening the Globe” project in Beijing, China.

Douglass currently is on his Midwestern tour for the rest of April and May.
