Area gets bit by fashion bug

Local models will roam the racks of the DeKalb Fashion Bug this weekend as part of a nationwide fashion show.
More than 1,000 nationwide locations simultaneously will introduce the store’s spring fashion line at 2 p.m. Central Standard Time on Saturday.
Shoppers will be able to view the clothes modeled for about one hour, said Stella Novak, co-manager of the DeKalb Fashion Bug, 2451 Sycamore Road.
Novak said 44 women signed up to model, but she said she would be happy if 40 model Saturday.
The models will walk through the clothing racks among the customers, Novak said.
“The store is not big enough for a stage,” she said. “The model will pose in front of a customer, so she can have a better look at what she is wearing.”
The show will feature casual, career and sportswear apparel in junior, misses and plus sizes.
The models are local women who signed up a week before the event. They will receive a 30 percent discount on any purchases they make the day of the show.
The models’ families also benefit from the show.
“If she wants to invite anyone to see her, such as members of her family or her friends, they will receive a coupon for $5 off their total purchase,” Novak said.
There are no special requirements to become a model for the show. Applicants filled out a form giving information about their size and what time they are available for a fitting.
“We ask that they come in a week before to pick out their clothing and accessories,” Novak said.
