Northern Black Choir presents weekend events

The Northern Black Choir will host a choir workshop this weekend. The workshop will start today and end Sunday.

Cametha Games, vice president of NBC, said today’s events will be split in half. The first half will be a concert and the second half will feature past directors of NBC. Games also said alumni members of the organizations and recording artists such as Daryl Hallman and Stevie Bland Jr. will be present.

Saturday morning will be a mass rehearsal.

“We welcome all students to come to our rehearsal to fellowship,” Games said. Games said directors also would be there Saturday. She said the directors will teach songs from the era of directing.

Sunday will feature a mass concert with current NBC members and alumni.

Games said the founders of NBC also will be in attendance and that students should come see how the NBC legacy got started. More information about the week’s events will be given today.

Games said students should come to the events because students are under a lot of pressure.

“With it being so close to finals, students could use this event as way to relieve stress,” she said.
