The Barn’s hearing rescheduled
April 12, 2004
The Barn’s hearing with the city has been moved to 3 p.m. May 3.
City Attorney Margo Ely said the change was made so witnesses can testify at the next hearing.
“This will take some time,” she said.
The Barn’s owners and employees could not participate in the hearing because they arrived late, but Ely said they signed a certificate stating they were served with the charges.
Before the hearing, Ely said The Barn’s owners and employees didn’t inform her they would be late.
The establishment, 1215 Blackhawk Road, was charged with violating the DeKalb Municipal Code for charging patrons to enter the establishment on Feb. 6 and Feb. 20.
Chris Gochis, son of the owner, said there is no charge to enter the establishment, but there is a $5 fee for the Friday pizza buffet.
The Barn also was charged with letting at least three minors not accompanied by their parents to enter the bar area on Feb. 15.
The minors also allegedly were served, consumed and possessed alcohol without showing their IDs.
Gochis said the underagers were employees of the establishment.
The establishment could be fined and/or have its liquor license suspended or revoked if found guilty of the charges.
