Web site provides alcohol safety tips

With the help of University Health Service, students can keep track of the amount of alcohol they drink using the Internet.

A Web site called MyStudentBody.com helps to make sure alcohol doesn’t interfere with students’ daily routines. It also helps students identify drinking behaviors and risks, according to the Web site.

“I am not sure if there is a need for the site, but I believe that there is a need for the information,” health educator Steve Lux said.

For NIU students, the logon password is NIUHUSKIE.

NIU health officials are trying to promote the site to help students monitor alcohol consumption.

“We have tried to promote the site with printed materials, presentations to NIU groups, advertising in the Star and Huskie Bus signs,” Lux said.

The site, which was not created by NIU, is in the process of developing other health models such as safe sex, Lux said.

Inflexxion Inc., the Web site’s creator, specializes in college health.
