Country group’s ‘dirt road’ leads to DeKalb

Featured everywhere from race cars to Corn Flakes boxes, acclaimed country group Brooks and Dunn is set to play at the Convocation Center on Feb. 20 as part of its Red Dirt Road Tour.
Known for its 18 No. 1 hits, 22 million albums sold, a race car sponsorship and Corn Flakes cereal box covers, Brooks and Dunn is predicted to sell out the the arena, which will be set to seat 6,000 ticket buyers, said Kevin Selover, Convocation Center marketing manager.
“I think bringing an act of that magnitude to the Convocation Center is great,” Selover said. “I can forsee all the seats going quickly.”
In 1993, Brooks and Dunn won a Grammy for Best Country Performance By A Duo or Group With Vocal for “Hard Workin’ Man” and, in 1996, the group won a Grammy in the same category for “My Maria.”
The tour, which will begin in Reading, Pa., on Feb. 12, is to promote the group’s newest album “Red Dirt Road.” Touring with Brooks and Dunn are Joe Nichols and Josh Turner.
Reserved tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday and will cost $41.25.
Tickets can be purchased at the Convocation Center Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a 7:30 p.m. show.
