Huskies three-point specialist shoots out the answers
January 15, 2004
NIU senior Lindsay Secrest leads the Huskies in points per game in 14 games this season.
After practice earlier this week, Secrest was kind enough to take time to have a chat with the Northern Star.
Northern Star: If you could model yourself after an NBA player, who would it be and why?
Lindsay Secrest: If I could, it would be Larry Bird because of his work ethic.
NS: If you could trade places with one person for a day, either past or present, who would you be?
LS: Hmm. It’d definitely be a guy so I know what it’s like to pee standing up [laughing]. I’d be someone who seems happy and not affiliated with sports. Leonardo da Vinci.
NS: Is cheerleading a sport?
LS: I’ve gone back and forth on this one. It can be when it involves a competition, but no if it’s just cheering.
NS: What about a three-pointer makes it your shot of choice?
LS: Growing up, I used to play against a bunch of guys and because they were so big, I just stayed outside.
NS: If you were stranded on an island, what three people would you want to be surrounded by?
LS: My dad, because he would know what the heck he’s doing; my sister Desha; and my future husband.
NS: What was the last CD you bought?
LS: Frank Sinatra’s classics.
NS: Last movie you saw in the theater?
LS: “Lord of the Rings 3.”
NS: Favorite “Lord of the Rings” character?
LS: Gandalf.
NS: If you had a million dollars, what is the first thing you’d buy?
LS: I’d pay off all my family’s debts.
NS: What sport would you play if you didn’t play basketball?
LS: Volleyball.
NS: Favorite movie?
LS: My favorite movie, nobody will know. I’ll say “The Last of the Mohicans.”
NS: Favorite musician or group?
LS: I like most music. If I had to pick one, I’d pick something mellow like Norah Jones.
