DugOut ready to dish out food
January 12, 2004
The DuSable DugOut, which has been under renovations for the past month, is remodeled and open for business, said Bob Albanese, associate vice president of Finance and Facilities.
Since undergoing construction in December, the DuSable DugOut encountered several plumbing and electrical difficulties, which delayed the re-opening.
Albanese said he hopes to sell brand-name coffee or Krispy Kreme doughnuts, especially to students hard-pressed for sleep because of morning classes.
“I can see those things selling like hotcakes,” Albanese said.
The revenue figures expected from the DugOut’s sales are predicted to be about $25,000 – half the revenue of the Barsema Hall eatery, Albanese said.
Barsema Hall was the first classroom building to house a cafeteria, Albanese said.
The DuSable DugOut will be the second, although Albanese speculated on future endeavors, including possible work at Founders Memorial Library and a juice bar at the Student Recreation Center.
