Found body identified as Kingston man

On Monday, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office received notice from Dr. Julia Goodin of the State of Iowa Medical Examiner’s Office that the autopsy on the body recovered from rural Lost Nation, Iowa, had been completed.

The results of the autopsy positively identified the body through several dental records as being that of Adrian A. Ewald, 52, from Kingston. Ewald had been reported missing since July 1 to the DeKalb Illinois County Sheriff’s Office.

The cause of death was determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot.

Assisting the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation were the DeKalb County Illinois Sheriff’s Office, Clinton County Medical Examiner’s Office, Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation, State of Iowa Medical Examiner’s Office and Clinton County Sheriff’s Reserve Unit.
