Local church opens ‘holiday hearts’ with annual bazaar
November 14, 2003
With the spirit of the holiday season rapidly approaching, the First United Methodist Church of DeKalb is asking people to open their “holiday hearts” by attending the church’s 48th annual bazaar.
Homemade cookies, pies, peanut brittle, breads and candies are just some of the bake shop’s offerings.
The “attic treasures” antique corner will present a variety of goods that could be the perfect gift for the hard-to-shop for person on your list.
The bazaar runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The coffee shop is open from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. and turkey casserole luncheons are at 11:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m Saturday. The lunch donations are $6 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under; the cost includes the main dish, salad buffet and dessert.
“This is a tradition and we take pride in that. It is a good place for family to meet and enjoy a gathering of friends,” said Margaret Pasteris, the United Methodist women’s publicity chair.
The church is located at the corner of North Fourth Street and Oak Street, and offers free parking and is handicapped accessible.
