CAB plans ‘Dash for Dollars’
November 11, 2003
The Campus Activities Board’s latest event will have participants dashing for dollars.
The “Dash for Dollars” game show will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Duke Ellington Ballroom at the Holmes Student Center.
This event is open to anyone who wishes to participate.
Twelve participants will be drawn randomly on the night of the game show. The event will include three rounds, and four people will compete in each round for the chance to grab $500 from the cube.
“The cube is basically a big box that you can stand in, and money blows around and you try to grab as much as possible,” said Jaquita Logan, CAB special events coordinator.
Participants in each round will compete in stunts similar to those in Nickelodeon shows, said Bill Smith, owner of Smith Agency, who conducts the event.
“One of the stunts they talked about had to do with who could drink the fastest out of a big baby bottle,” Logan said.
The winner of each round will receive $25 and will compete against the other winners in a final round for a chance to get money from the cube.
After the winner of the final round grabs as much money as they can, the second place winner will have the opportunity to trade in $25 for 10 seconds in the cube.
“Before, during and after the game show, the host will conduct an activity similar to ‘Lets Make a Deal,’” Smith said. “Members of the audience will receive small dollar amounts in exchange for assorted items like a black sock or a blue pen.”
The Smith Agency has been conducting “Dash for Dollars” for the past seven years.
“It’s the number one show in our company, and it has been the number one game show booked for the last seven years in colleges throughout the United States,” Smith said.
This game show sparked CAB’s attention.
“Once I got this position, it jumped out at me and I knew I had to do it,” Logan said.
