SEA holds workshop
November 14, 2003
The Student Education Association is holding a workshop Saturday for those considering a teaching career.
“Education Across the Curriculum” will feature educators lecturing on teaching subjects like reading, language arts, social studies, science and math.
Sarah Sparrow, vice president of SEA and an early childhood education major, said she hopes the event generates more interest in the SEA.
“We would like to get more people involved,” she said. “Our numbers have been low this year, so we are trying to get more majors involved, such as early childhood, elementary and people who are going to be teaching high school. We are trying to cover all the curriculums this year, so we can get people’s feedback.”
Sparrow said those who attend the workshop will get a chance to interact with NIU faculty members.
“They are going to get a chance to network and meet a lot of teachers from around campus,” she said. “All of our speakers are teachers on the NIU campus this year. They are going to meet a lot of people in their major that they might have known before.”
The workshop runs from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at DuSable Hall, Room 348. Tickets are $7 at the door.
