Weir, Ratdog to make stop at arena
November 14, 2003
Grateful Dead fans might have a reason to come to the Convocation Center this weekend.
Former Dead member Bob Weir and his band, Ratdog, will perform at 7 p.m. Friday.
Kevin Selover, marketing manager for the Convo Center, said they are excited to bring in a group that represents decades of good music.
“[Weir] has a following of fans from age 16 to 60,” Selover said, “and not only does Ratdog bring in great music, but they also bring a great atmosphere with them.”
Selover said they are expecting a good mixture of students, community members and out-of-town visitors at the show.
The group consists of six members including Weir, drummer Jay Layne, keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, guitarist Mark Karan, saxophonist Kenny Brooks and bassist Robin Sylvester.
Weir formed Ratdog in 1995. The group has released one studio album, “Evening Moods,” which came out in 2000.
The tour will make stops in Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Des Moines, Iowa, before coming to the Convo Center.
Tickets for the show are available at the Convo Center box office, and at all Ticketmaster locations.
