Not your grandma’s sex life or is it?

When “The Golden Girls” comes to mind, one might think of a show that’s close to “Sex and the City,” for the over-40 crowd.

The sexual hype is what makes this show live on.

In fact, “The Golden Girls” has such a large following that there could be an organization formed.

Maybe it would be called the PGA. Not to rip off a widely used golf acronym, the Pro Golden Girl Activists would center their message around the following idea: Everything in life is relative to “The Golden Girls.”

When freshman electrical engineering major Latrina Eubanks was asked if she would join such an organization, she said,”Maybe, I’d like to hear everybody’s view on things.”

Eubanks also hasn’t had a life-changing experience because of “The Golden Girls.”

But it’s not the case for some “Golden Girls” enthusiasts.

According to the Lifetimetv.com message boards, some of which are dedicated strictly to “The Golden Girls,” certain lives have been changed by the show.

“I started watching the girls since last September when I was five months pregnant and suffering from serious depression. I can’t describe how much it has helped me. It gives me a feeling of serenity, purity and of home,” said message board member Iramay.

Pregnancy details, abusive husbands and pre-menopause memory loss are not uncommon topics on the message boards.

I know what you’re thinking. Being part of an organization whose major demographic is older than middle-aged housewives can’t be fun. Well, you’re probably right.

Yet, consider the other point of view.

“Golden Girls” or solid proof that sex after 40 is not just a myth.

Sophomore music major Erin Thompson said that “The Golden Girls” is a realistic portrayal of older living, meaning the older women in the show actually live their lives.

When you think about it, most modern TV shows deal primarily with young people living fun and exciting lives.

Whether it’s an intricate part of your social life, a life-changing belief or just a look into the future, “The Golden Girls” is definitely a learning experience.

After all, don’t you believe everything you see on TV?
