Patrick W. Silvers, 27, of Kirkland died after his motorcycle struck a car early Friday morning in the 800 block of West Lincoln Highway.

Silvers had been heading eastbound on Lincoln Highway when he struck the driver’s side of a car pulling out of the Junction Center parking lot, 816 W. Lincoln Highway. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:55 a.m. by the DeKalb County Coroner’s office.

Lt. Jim Kayes of DeKalb police said that Silvers had not been wearing a helmet.

“He was driving well over the speed limit, and he skidded for a ways before he struck the side of the car, breaking the windshield and the side window,” Kayes said.

Dennis Miller, DeKalb County coroner, said Silvers died of massive head injuries.
