Pedestrian hit on Annie Glidden

By Libby John

A pedestrian was struck by a car on the corner of Annie Glidden Road and Lucinda Avenue on Monday evening.

Corporal Jon Costliow of the DeKalb Police Department said the victim was walking on Lucinda Avenue toward the Chick Evans Field House when a vehicle traveling northbound hit the victim. Police were called at 6:49 p.m.

Costliow said witnesses reported that the victim’s back was turned while crossing the road and talking to friends. When the victim turned back is when the incident happened.

It also is unknown whether the victim hit the crosswalk button or not. The driver had the green light at the time.

As of press time, police couldn’t say whether the victim was a student or not.

The victim was taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital and there was no report on the status of that person’s condition as of press time.

No tickets or citations have yet been issued to either the driver of the vehicle or the victim.

The incident is under investigation, Costliow said.
