Greek Week talent show canceled

The Showtime at the Apollo talent show, which was slated for Saturday as the last event for Greek Week, has been canceled.

A lack of interest and not enough material to fill the required time slots for the show justified the need for the event to be called off, said Greek Week committee co-chair Crystal Hoppe.

The Greek Week committee tried to make the show a two-hour event, but had only three acts scheduled to run, and they each were about ten-minutes long, Hoppe said.

Hoppe was dismayed at the cancellation because the Greeks were capable, and it would have been a great show, she said.

“Seeing some of the Greeks in Anchor Splash, we knew they were talented,” Hoppe said.

One of the many disappointments of the cancellation was the fact that the event was set to donate all non-perishable food items to the Safe Passage homeless shelter, Hoppe said.
