A bicyclist’s collision with a car resulted in an NIU student being taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

The accident occurred just before 2 p.m. as the vehicle was turning left onto University Circle from Lucinda Avenue.

The vehicle, driven by NIU student Erin Ferrell, was turning when it was struck by a bicycle heading east. The bicyclist, NIU student Justin Tureson, was taken to KCH from the scene.

Lt. Jim Kayes of the DeKalb Police Department said no tickets had been issued as of press time and Tureson’s condition was unknown.

This is the second accident to occur on Lucinda Avenue this week. On Monday, a pedestrian was sideswiped on the corner of Lucinda Avenue and Annie Glidden Road. There has been no update on that investigation as of yet.
