Write-in Jim Schneider promises to do the job right if elected

The race for 3rd Ward Alderman has increased in competition when write-in Jim Schneider included his name as a write-in at the League of Women Voters’ Meet the Candidates Night Thursday night.

Schneider said during the forum that such things like Greek Row location, Garden Road and the Pleasant Street Revitalization plan are issues he’d tackle as alderman.

Schneider deemed Greek Row as a tragedy in the context that students have to drive to most of their classes as opposed to walking. He thought changes here needed to be addressed or made to make this less of a strain.

He also touched upon the Garden Road issue saying that it is important to maintain parking there so citizens and outside visitors have greater access to the university.

One of Schneider’s primary concerns is future involvement with the Pleasant Street project.

Schneider said that the 3rd Ward could be a powerful voice on the city council and therefore felt his nomination would make it just that.

Schneider’s visibility within the city has been evident with consistent letters to the editor in area newspapers and frequent appearances on television during city council meetings. Through both mediums, Schneider has exhibited his voice and concerns over a wide variety of issues within the city.

“If you want the job done right, you’ve got to do it yourself,” Schneider said.
