Vote for Youngquist; he has seen the problems and promises to help
March 21, 2003
During my term as president of the Anime Association of NIU I have had many dealings with the SA and have come to realize how bureaucratic their dealings with student organizations really are. From meetings with no point to a 100-plus page budget guide and a committee that uses over $30,000 that could be used by student organizations, the SA has managed to make many parts of being a recognized organization harder than it should be.
As an SA member, senator Eric Youngquist has seen these problems and has promised to fight for the rights of the student organizations if he is elected president. As an officer of two organizations, I urge people to vote for Eric Youngquist and Susan Gonwa at the upcoming SA elections.

Students need to know all the facts before protesting war
Yes, we are in a war now and many don’t want it to happen. Students at DeKalb High School were protesting on Wednesday, which they have a right to do. But do they know why they don’t want it to happen?
Yes, they want peace. Did they consider all the facts, such as how it might help the country or even other countries? In high school, I didn’t know everything and I think it’s the same for the high schoolers today.
I’m not saying that it’s wrong to be against the war, but I just want to know if they know why they are doing it and if they know all the facts. As a college student now, I don’t know everything and sometimes wonder how could a high school student when I can’t.
Another thing that made me wonder was a comment by Rudy Gonzales, a junior here at NIU.
When asked “What do you think about Bush’s decision?” he stated, “I don’t think that we should go to war. It is kind of scary. We don’t know what’s going to happen. People have families everywhere and we don’t know what the results are going to be.”
Well Rudy, when someone signs up for the Army, Marines or any other branch of the military they’ve got to be ready to fight. Yes, it is going to be scary and it might be hard on the family, but it was the choice of the person.
Secondly, I am sorry, but it is a war; we are never going to know what is going to happen. It is something that we have to risk to fight for what we believe. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t believe what you do, but I think you need to think about it a little more.

Crisler ticket will accomplish many things
I am in support of the Crisler, Becerra, Josephson and Miller ticket; these men have already done a plethora of positive things for Northern’s campus. I feel that they can accomplish great things in the future if they are elected into office. I have faith that the representation displayed by the four individuals mentioned will continue to increase.
