Hollywood secrets revealed for pennies

Do you enjoy slick car scenes? Or do expensive-looking sets for practically nothing float your boat?

The Student Film and Video Association wants to know. The SFVA meets at 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. every Wednesday at Cole Hall’s Preview Room.

The SFVA usually dissects a film and teaches the club members how to create special effects for minimal costs. Last week, the SFVA taught the club members to create a James Bond-style car sequence without scary stunt perspectives.

“Last week we showed the people how to do a dangerous 007 vehicle stunt without being hurt. It’s called a perspective shot. The camera shows that something is dangerous when it’s not dangerous at all,” SFVA President Brian Daley said.

Since Daley took over the film club, its popularity has skyrocketed. He said at one point, the Campus Activities Board wanted to annex the film club into its program for $8,000, but the club refused, citing personal reasons.
