The Northern Star won several awards at the 21st annual Illinois College Press Association convention on Feb. 22 in Chicago. They include:

• First place: Online publication, column (excluding sports), spot news photo

• Second Place: Entertainment supplement, front page layout, in-depth reporting, in-house promo ad

• Third place: Critical review (other than film), feature story, headline writing, sports news design, sports photo

• Honorable mention: General excellence, classified section, feature page layout, feature photo (including sports), graphic illustration, in-depth reporting, opinion pages, photo essay, special supplement, sports column, sports news story, sports page layout.
