Greek Survey

By Nick Swedberg

The area known as Greek Row on Greenbrier Road won’t be so dark and gloomy anymore after it receives a illumination facelift.

“We had a survey done by an outside consultant on private property on Greenbrier up through Kimberly,” said Sue Guio, the city of DeKalb’s community service coordinator.

Guio said the purpose of the survey was to examine the lighting issue in the area. Several members of the community will be conducting a visual survey of the area in hopes of determining what changes need to be made.

Guio added property owners in the area were notified and asked about the lighting issues.

“We really work more with perception than with statistics or realities,” Guio said. During this survey, people will be looking for broken bulbs, malfunctioning lights and other visual hazards on both public and private property. The Visual walking survey of Greek Row includes the members of the community and will meet at the parking lot next to the Around the Clock restaurant at 6:30 p.m. today.
