Lipizzaner Stallions to trot into town
February 19, 2003
The monster truck rally brought a lot of horse power, but this week the Convocation Center will be packed with a different kind of horse power.
The Convo Center will host the “World Famous” Lipizzaner Stallions on Thursday.
The horses will leap and dance in a showcase of their talents in their special 33rd anniversary tour.
More than 23 million people have seen the stallions throughout the tour.
The stallions will dance and leap in maneuvers that originally were used in warfare.
Marketing Manager Joe Coots expects the event to draw people from DeKalb and surrounding areas.
“There are a lot of horse farms and animal lovers in this area,” Coots said.
The show will include 12 horses leaping and dancing on their back legs, with riders dressed in full regalia, with music and spot lights, Coots said.
Intercollegiate Equestrian Club adviser Jan Knudsen said that she looks forward to seeing the dressage, or training part, of the program.
“I am looking forward to seeing some of the best-trained horses in the world,” Knudsen said.
Tickets are available at the Convo Center box office or at Ticketmaster.com.
