Candidates list realeased

The Student Association Board of Elections released the eligible candidates list Tuesday for the upcoming executive election. Four positions are up for election this spring, including SA president, vice president, treasurer and student trustee.

Tuesday also was the first day of official campaigning.

“I want to start off with a lot of expansion programs,” presidential candidate Shaun Crisler said of what he would do if elected. He said some of these programs would include letting students know about how their student fees are spent.

Crisler said he would tell students they have a student fee-supported lawyer, that there are student fee-funded health enhancement services, and that he wants to work more with student organizations.

“I don’t anticipate any problems,” Crisler said about the campaign. He said that any negative campaigning would not be started by him.

Crisler is running on the same ticket as vice president candidate Andrew Becerra, treasurer candidate Andrew Josephson and student trustee candidate Kevin Miller.

Presidential candidate R.J. Gravel said he wants to campaign on the issues.

Gravel said he is for open government and wants to represent the students.

Gravel is running on the same ticket as vice president candidate Laisha Fox, treasurer candidate Joshua Blakemore and student trustee candidate Jeffrey A. Meyer.

“We’re starting as soon as we can,” Gravel said about their campaigning. The ticket’s tag line, “Get Represented,” is indicative of their campaign issues, Gravel said.

Miller, Meyer and presidential candidate Eric Youngquist were unavailable for comment at press time.

The SA executive elections will take place March 25 and 26.

Those who get elected will take office starting in the fall.
