Attempted robbery reported
December 2, 2002
The DeKalb Police Department is investigating an attempted armed robbery that occurred about 1:30 a.m. Friday.
Police said the victim was seated in his car in the parking lot of 1037 Spiros Court when a male approached him and asked for a “light.” Police said the suspect then pulled out a handgun and demanded that the victim hand him all of his money.
Police described the suspect as a black male, between 5-feet-9 and 6-feet tall with a heavy build. The suspect was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black jacket and black pants. Police say there may be another suspect who accompanied the man with the gun and may have acted as a lookout during the attempted robbery. The second suspect is described as a heavyset (possibly Hispanic) male wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt. Both suspects fled west on foot.
The victim was not injured during the altercation and the suspects did not receive any money from the victim.
