No leads in Brandt murder
November 22, 2002
After releasing a flier Tuesday about Joseph Brandt, 35, of Sycamore, a victim of an apparent homicide, police still have no updates about the investigation.
The flier contains the victim’s picture and a description of the victim and his vehicle.
According to the flier, Brandt is believed to have been murdered somewhere between Thursday, Nov. 7 and Monday, Nov. 11.
He also is believed to have driven a 1988 blue and silver Ford Club Wagon Van.
Also, within a few hours before his death, Brandt is believed to have eaten a meal containing meat, potatoes and vegetables, according to his autopsy, said DeKalb County Sheriff Roger Scott.
Scott said they were still trying to find the person who had last seen him that day.
Fliers have been posted near the area where the victim lived, at 15415 Old State Road.
Brandt’s body was discovered on Nov. 13 by his landlord when he noticed that his lights had been on for a while.
Results from his autopsy showed that Brandt died from a gunshot wound, and it was ruled a homicide.
Scott said no other developments have been made in the case.
This case is being investigated by the DeKalb County Major Case Squad, which is comprised of DeKalb and Sycamore police, University Police and officers from the Sheriff’s office.
