‘Landscapes’ offer new perspectives

You are invited to get lost in the scenery as the DeKalb Gallery, 161 E. Lincoln Highway, hosts an opening reception for local artist and NIU alumna Dale Osterle this Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.

“Landscapes” features 13 hand-painted etching works by Osterle, depicting the landscapes and the impact of nature from her formative years spent in the New England area.

DeKalb Gallery owner Dan Grych encourages NIU students to attend, citing Osterle’s creative and vibrant output.

“Her choice of colors pulls from the New England area,” Grych said. “Her impressions rely on imagination, since her inspiration comes from the visual memories from her travels.”

Osterle’s work has been shown in numerous galleries around the country since 1984. Most recently, she had exhibited two solo shows in Chicago simultaneously at The Chicago Center for the Print and at The Beacon Street Gallery.

“Miles to Go,” Osterle’s first print, will be auctioned for the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Osterle’s work will be on display until Dec. 31.

The DeKalb Gallery is open Tuesday through Friday from 12 to 9 p.m and on Saturday from 12 to 7 p.m.
