Passing on to next season

The NIU lacrosse club team lost its three games this weekend while hosting the NIU Fall Classic to end the fall season.
The Huskies opened up Saturday with a 9-8 loss to Western Illinois, and in their second game they fell 7-5 to Wisconsin-Whitewater.
“Whitewater’s not very good but we just played down to their level,” said lacrosse president Ryan Mangnuson.
On Sunday, NIU lost by a count of 4-3 to Iowa State on a disputed last second call that allowed the Cyclones goal.
Peter McKierran, a sophomore midfielder, scored three goals against Iowa State and one in each of the Saturday’s games.
Junior Rob Bronersky, who plays hockey for NIU as well, played well according to Mangnuson.
“He gave a lot of effort this weekend and has been going both ways with hockey and lacrosse,” Mangnuson said. “He was one of the leaders on the field over the weekend.”
Five seniors culminated their career at NIU over the weekend.
Defensemen Ryan Kearns and Steve Rosner, midfielders Neal Burns and Tony Messina and attackman Monty Shannon, who scored three goals over the weekend, all will be missed, Mangnuson said.
