Area man arrested again

And the battle wages on.

No, not between the United States and terrorism, but between dekalbcity.com and area police departments.

Even though the DeKalb Police Department has been on the receiving end of the site’s criticism, the Sycamore Police Department now headlines the site.

The attacks come after the former owner of the site, 21-year-old Darin Boone, was arrested on a theft warrant last week for allegedly stealing more than $300 from his Sycamore employer, Radio Shack.

Boone was taken to DeKalb County Jail when he was unable to post bond, but was released July 5 after posting the $200 bond, according to the DeKalb County Corrections Office.

This marks the second time in nearly three weeks Boone has been arrested. Last month, he was arrested for harassment by electronic communications because of the allegations against public officials made by dekalbcity.com.

Sycamore police officer Rod Swartzendruber, who arrested Boone, said this latest investigation was conducted by Radio Shack’s loss prevention officer. When the investigation was completed, Radio Shack notified Sycamore police of the case and the arrest was made, Swartzendruber added.

Radio Shack declined to comment on the case.

This is not the first time Boone has had difficulties with DeKalb County officials. In 1999, Boone was arrested and convicted of burglary to DeKalb High School after he broke into the school.

In typical fashion, dekalbcity.com responded to a quote from Swartzendruber that was printed in the DeKalb Daily Chronicle. The site published an article replying to Swartzendruber’s statement.

Even though the site contained Swartzendruber’s name, he said he doesn’t look at the site and has better things to do.
