The DeKalb Police Department has three people in custody for two separate armed robbery cases in the DeKalb area.

The first case dates back to Nov. 10, 2001, when police say Ryan Shorter, 19, of 1025 S. Seventh St., made a fake pizza order.

The order was made somewhere in the 1200 block of Market Street. When the delivery person arrived, police say Shorter presented a gun and demanded money. An unknown amount of money was taken.

The delivery person was not injured.

Shorter was arrested and charged with armed robbery.

The other case occurred March 3 at the Baymont Inn & Suites, 1314 W. Lincoln Highway.

According to a DeKalb Police Department press release, a hotel employee was approached by a suspect carrying a knife. The suspect demanded and received an unknown amount of money.

Stephen M. Liddick, 20, of 1400 W. Lincoln Highway, and Richard L. Baugh, 19, of Esmond, were arrested and charged with armed robbery. Baugh received the charge for accountability.

Assisting in the arrest of Liddick and Baugh was the North Central Narcotics Task Force. Sgt. Jason Leverton said the task force was assisted by an informant who named the suspects.

Leverton added that this case also has other arrests pending.

No connections have been reported between either case.

Armed robbery is a Class X felony and is punishable by six to 30 years in prison, with a fine of $25,000.

All three suspects are being held on $200,000 bond at the DeKalb County Jail.
