A wreck on Route 23 Tuesday resulted in the death of Louis Ridulph.

Ridulph, 87, of 3101 S. 4th St., was pronounced dead at Kishwaukee Community Hospital as a result of head and chest injuries he received during the crash, said DeKalb County Coroner Dennis Miller.

According to reports, Ridulph left his residence about 5 p.m. to travel north toward DeKalb. As he was doing so, he was struck on the side by Ofelia Zamudio, 27, of 837 W. Taylor St., Apt. 1110. The two vehicles came to rest in the middle of the road.

Ridulph then was transported to KCH and pronounced dead at 5:37 p.m.

Zamudio was taken to KCH for treatment of minor injuries. She was released from the hospital shortly after being admitted.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office issued citations to Zamudio for driving without a valid driver’s license and driving without insurance.

Even though the wreck resulted in a death, Sheriff Roger Scott said there will be no additional charges other than against Zamudio for driving without a valid license.
