The North Central Narcotics Task Force, with the assistance of the Sycamore Police Department, arrested Virgil D. Wade, 29, of Chicago, on Jan. 24, on a warrant for unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

The arrest came after an investigation based on tips from people who suspected Wade of selling crack cocaine. The investigation led to an issuance of a warrant and another investigation with the DeKalb Police Department to locate Wade, NCNTF Sgt. Jim Winters said.

He was found at a residence in the 200 block of Maertz Street in Sycamore and was arrested. During the arrest, he was found to be in the possession of crack cocaine.

Wade was booked and taken to the DeKalb County Jail. His initial bond was set at $20,000, but after a bond hearing Friday, it was raised to $120,000 as a result of the possession and intent to deliver charges. He must pay 10 percent of the total to be released on bail, Winters said.

Wade is charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance from the warrant, as well as two additional counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and two counts of intent to deliver a controlled substance.
