Robbery strikes Faraday
November 7, 2001
University Police are looking for a suspect in connection with an armed robbery that occurred Monday night at Faraday East.
Police were called to Faraday East at 9:30 p.m., by a victim claiming to have been robbed at gunpoint in a second-story bathroom.
According to reports, the victim was followed into the bathroom by a white male described as about 6-feet tall and 180 pounds, wearing jeans and a camouflage-type jacket. The suspect then displayed a handgun and demanded money. After receiving the money, the suspect fled the scene on foot.
Sgt. John Kreutiziger of the University Police said they currently have no suspects in the case.
“We got some things that we collected that have to go to the crime lab,” Kreutiziger said. “That will take a little while … hopefully he left prints.”
This is the first armed robbery he can remember occurring in a bathroom of a classroom building, Kreutiziger said.
Anyone with any information in this case should call the NIU TipLine at 753-TIPS or University Police at 753-1212.
