A man accused of sexually assaulting a DeKalb woman is being held in DeKalb County Jail after his bond was set at $100,0000 Thursday morning.

DeKalb resident Alejandro Hernandez, 28, was arrested Wednesday on charges that he sexually assaulted a woman in the 1100 block of east Locust Street.

According to police reports, Hernandez entered the victim’s home through a window around 2 a.m. Wednesday. He remained in the residence for several hours, terrorizing and sexually assaulting the victim, said Lt. Jim Kayes of the DeKalb Police Department.

The victim reported the incident to police Wednesday afternoon. She knew the offender, Kayes said.

Hernandez is charged with aggravated sexual assault, home invasion, sexual assault and possession of a fake ID. He also had a warrant for failure to appear in court on a criminal trespassing charge. He could face up to 30 years in prison, Kayes said.

Hernandez also could be deported after his release because he doesn’t possess any valid U.S. citizenship.
