Best photo bargain at VCB

Wal-Mart sure does stick to its theme “rolling back prices” when it comes to one-hour photo developing.
For two sets of 24 exposure film processed within the hour, Wal-Mart, 2300 Sycamore Road, charges their customers $7.44.
On the other hand, Walgreens Drug Store, 100 W. Lincoln Highway, charges $10.97 for the same set and amount of exposures.
While a Walgreens photo technician refused to comment on the price comparison, Jessica Morrissey, a Wal-Mart photo technician, said Wal-Mart always tries to be lower than their competitors.
“The photos are the exact same quality,” she said. “They have to be because of the rules and regulations we abide by. If a customer doesn’t like the picture quality we’ll redo them.”
“If they don’t like a couple of photos in the set, then they do not have to pay for them.”
Some students have cars, and those who don’t, may not have the time to take the Huskie bus to develop their photos. Those students may go to the Village Commons Bookstore, 901 Lucinda Avenue, or the University Bookstore in the Holmes Student Center. Neither bookstore offers one-hour photo.
Marian Sudnik, who works at the VCB information desk, said film is normally returned within three to four days.
“At VCB we don’t charge by number of exposures but by photo size, either three inch or four inch,” she said.
Two sets of three-inch double prints have a special of $3.88 currently running at the VCB, two sets of four-inch doubles cost $6.39, Sudnik said.
“I think it’s cheaper to come to the VCB, but people who need them done by a certain time go elsewhere,” she said.
At the University Bookstore, Gary Gates, department supervisor, said photos can be delivered “next-day” if students bring in their film by 10 a.m.
They currently have a special running: doubles and all your pictures on a disk for $6.99.
