Fans load buses for U of I game

Like Spike Lee said, “get on the bus.”

That’s what students have done, evidently, because Campus Activities Board and the Residence Hall Association officially have sold out of bus tickets for Saturday’s football game against University of Illinois.

RHA President Alex Underwood said RHA would sell their tickets at $15 no matter what. CAB president Mike Brady originally said CAB and RHA agreed to sell their tickets for $29.

Surprisingly, RHA began selling tickets for $15, Brady said.

“There was no competition,” Underwood said. “Thirty dollars was kind of high to start with, not knowing what other people were charging.”

With only five students scheduled to attend the game with CAB for the original ticket price, the group had little choice but to lower their ticket price to $15, Brady said. Currently, CAB has a full bus load of 40 NIU fans attending the game.

Eventually, CAB and RHA decided to match each other’s prices.

“One bus was completely full, and there is a waiting list,” Underwood said.

As a result of the drastic ticket price decrease, not only did RHA sell out of tickets but also created a waiting list, which was given to CAB.

Tickets are nearly impossible to come by now, but when they were available, there were plenty of deals for students to choose from.

“It’s a good thing there is so many people supporting the football team and showing their Huskie pride,” Underwood said.

In the end, it’s all about the team, Underwood said, in response to how many buses were needed and the number of the students attending the game.
