Laing lends hand to relief effort

Laing residents are asked to drop off their donation by Oct. 1 to the Laing Management office, 701 Lucinda Avenue, in the form of a personal check.

In light of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on America, overwhelming support for the victims of the tragedy has been pouring out from many, including the landlords of one DeKalb/Sycamore rental community.

Kathy and Charley Laing, owners of Laing Management properties, are calling out to all Laing tenants to contribute to the relief fund.

Laing has set up a relief effort to benefit the tenant’s charity of choice, as long as the selected charity provides some sort of relief to victims of the attack on America. As an incentive for Laing tenants to make donations to the relief fund, Laing Management will donate $2 for every one dollar donated.

The money the Laings will donate will come out of their personal funds.

“My husband and I wanted to do something,” said Kathy Laing. “We decided a donation was the best means at this time and thought we would get others involved so we put the challenge out to our residents in our apartments.”

“I believe that any money donation is going to help the relief effort,” Kathy said. “It seems to be the American thing to do — to show our support for our country and the people who have suffered.”
