SA makes it almost official
April 30, 2001
The last act for the Student Association this semester will be carried out today with the unofficial inaugurations of president Troy Caldwell, vice president Jamie Garcia and treasurer Karega Harris.
Usually, the inauguration ceremony occurs on Reading Day, as per the SA Constitution. But to increase the number of students who can attend, the decision was made to hold the ceremony today, with the official swearing-in on Reading Day, this Friday.
The event will run from 6 to 8 p.m., with a reception following the unofficial ceremony at the Holmes Student Center’s Capitol Room.
Student senators said farewell for this school year at the last senate meeting on Sunday.
In SA business, senators approved:
$20,000 out of supplemental funding to WKDI
$33,094.10 to the SA academic affairs position
$1,000 to Take Five Productions.
The money for WKDI will go toward new equipment for the studio, Caldwell said in his current role as treasurer.
Senators also approved a new executive position, the director of organization and development, which was developed by Caldwell as SA president-elect.
“This director will help organizations in fundraising and getting through the recognition process,” he said.
Currently, the recognition process is handled by the SA vice president.
