University Police reported Wednesday that the woman who claimed to have been sexually assaulted Friday night near Reavis and Cole halls withdrew her statement and falsified her report.

The woman filed the report Sunday, alleging that the assault occurred about 10 p.m. Friday on campus.

Police said the alleged victim took back her statement Wednesday, saying it was completely false. After evaluating case evidence, police closed the investigation.

Once the report was filed Sunday, police encouraged people to utilize caution when walking alone in lightly-traveled areas and to use public transportation, especially during the evening hours.
